Considerable progress has been made at the site of the new station at Newcourt on the Exmouth branch as is evidenced by these pictures by David Tozer. Many thanks David

Many thanks to Paul Roach who sent in this link to a Stobart Rail Video on the refurbishment and re-decking of Hayle Viaduct. https://www.facebook.com/stobartrail/videos/1596160310667908/ It is very fitting to receive news of the Stobart video as we have published Roger Winnen's pictures only two days ago.
The Office of Rail and Road (previously the Office of Rail Regulation) has confirmed to Railway Herald that it has commenced the start of a process to consider revoking the safety certificate of the West Coast Railway Company (WCRC) following significant concerns over safety.
The ORR has written to industry stakeholders to advise of its concerns and that it has "triggered its formal procedures to consider revocation of the West Coast Railway Company (WCRC) Safety Certificate" as of 17th April. As with the granting of a license, the revocation procedure involves a 28-day consultation process with the industry, before a final decision is made. Network Rail has confirmed that WCRC has submitted paperwork in relation to the Suspension Notice served on 2nd April, and that the submission is now being reviewed and assessed. Given that the ORR has publically stated its concern over safety at WCRC, there remains the possibility that in the event of Network Rail lifting its suspension notice, the ORR could take steps to prevent the company from resuming operations pending the outcome of the industry consultation. Any further information is unlikely to come before late May, once the 28-day consultation has concluded, and a decision is reached by the ORR. Hello Keith, More sunshine and a few spare hours. The down sleeeper was snapped at Truro after a night shift, The sun was only just risen at 06.20 but by 07.05 it was strong enough to bleach out the whole train, 57604 was the loco. The brick work and lamps below were nicely lit though! Then onto a new, recently cleared location a the foot of Treverrin bank at Lostwithiel. 66092 is wide open with the empties bound for Goonbarrow. Finally at Golant in simply superb light for the 6G08 clay along the causeway. Cheers Craig. Many thanks Craig The Seven Million Pound refurbishment of Hayle Viaduct is all but completed. Report by Roger Winnen20/4/2015
Since November 2014 This viaduct has been undergoing an extensive restoration programme with the renewal of all the deck timbers, the shotblasting and painting of the steelwork together with major repairs to the steel structure which has resulted in this viaduct being under wraps. All is now being revealed as the scaffolding is being dismantled. Congratulations to Network Rail and Dyer & Butler the main contractors. Hi Keith, What a morning to wake up aboard the down Night Riviera, get out of bed and peer through the port holes out onto this view! 1C99 sweeps over Angarrack viaduct and on to the Hayle stop on Mon 20th April 2015. The locomotive is borrowed in DRS class 57 number 57303 in the attractive Compass livery. There's not many places on Cornwall's main line where you can get the North coast in a shot.
Who says today's railways are dull? All the best Craig. Many thanks for your picture Craig We were delighted to have Eric Rabjohns with us again on a very informative walk from Crofthandy, the terminus of the Poldice Tramway to Scorrier. Eric is full of information and charm, which delights everyone that knows him. Many thanks Eric. The Poldice Tramway opened in 1819 and closed about 1865, conveying ores to Portreath for shipment to South Wales for smelting, and bringing back coal and other materials for the mines in the Gwennap area. The Williams family of Scorrier House had the controlling powers behind the railway together with Fox & Co who owned Portreath Harbour. 150418k The Directors car from the Poldice Tramway which was found in this building at the back of the Fox and Hounds is now a prime exhibit in Truro Museum. The tramway coming from Crofthandy ran alongside this road before passing under the GWR by means of a bridge at the west end of the station.Copyright Roger Winnen More photographs of this visit in Inside Stories Feature Pages
The 'other half' was further up the line. Many thanks to both of you.
