Dear Keith,
As promised, I attach a PDF of the synopsis of The GWR's Last Resort, specially written for the CRS. Incorporated illustrations all have the required permissions, and I have copyrighted the PDF jointly to the CRS and to the Caradon Heritage Partnership, for whom I wrote the original full-length paper.
I have suggested that those readers who wish to know more (and there is much more behind the outline) should access the paper and its supplement via the libraries where copies are lodged in Cornwall and in Plymouth.
I do hope that enclosed is of interest to CRS members and website users and that it will resolve a number of long-standing queries. Do let me know if you would when it is uploaded to the CRS webpages and I can then refer other folk accordingly.
With very best wishes and thanks for your patience
Alec

Many many thanks to Alec for this 21 page synopsis of the history of a branch line which unfortunately never became a reality. One can only imagine what a journey along this route would have been like. This must have taken many hours of painstaking research. The work will prove invaluable to those wishing to study the route and its history. As Alec says if you wish to research even more deeply than this very comprehensive record there are various places where full copies have been lodged. The Cornwall Railway Society is indeed privileged to be associated with this fine work by Alec Kendall.
