Become a member of the Cornwall Railway Society

At a gathering of railway enthusiasts held at the Falcon Restaurant, Redruth, in November 1977, it was decided to establish a railway society based in Redruth. The meeting was chaired by Mr Gordon Dobbs, and a small committee was elected to organise what was initially known as a Railway Enthusiasts Club.

From these beginnings, the organisation grew into what we know today as The Cornwall Railway Society.
Over the years, the Society expanded and proved extremely popular, organising numerous mainline railtours and regularly selling out well-attended slideshows and talks.

Today, the Society is perhaps best known for this website. Developed and maintained over many years by Keith Jenkin and Roger Winnen, it has become an invaluable archive and reference resource for railway history in Cornwall and beyond.

Our members enjoy a range of benefits, including:
  • Regular printed magazines
  • Free admission to our indoor meetings, including slideshows, talks, and presentations
  • Invitations to outdoor events and excursions

In addition, members have the satisfaction of knowing that their £10 annual subscription helps to keep the Society active and thriving for future generations.

If you'd like to become a member, please simply send an email to our membership secretary, Michael Bojko - [email protected]
