Yes, twenty nine years ago, a nice sunny Friday was the day when the steam ban in Cornwall was broken as 7029 Clun Castle steamed over the Royal Albert bridge with a special to Truro. On the journey down the train stopped for a while at Par as 'Clun' was taken off its train and taken to St Blazey for turning. Luckily cameras were around to record this happy event and very recently a wonderful collection from Sid Sponhiemer has come to light to considerably increase our file. 6th September 1985. Clun Castle arrives at Par amid great excitement. One wonders who the gentlemen up on the signal were and whether they got a better picture than Sid?
