A query - can you help?
Ottery St. Mary (new) signal box
I don't have a news item but I do have a query. Could you any of your members tell me when the new brick and glass signal box at Ottery St. Mary station was opened - any help would be much appreciated.
By way of an aside I was the fireman on 35022 when she worked the 1st East Devon Rail Tour on 28/02/1965 - my enquiry is related to that tour and photographs from it which cover the runs over the Lyme Regis, Sidmouth, and Exmouth branches.
All the best

Engineering Variety at Westbury
Guy Vincent
Due to an unrelated overnight engineering possession in the Bristol area that overran by around 3 hours, no less than seven trains arrived at Westbury between 1350 and 1530. Three trains returning from a weekend renewals job near Little Mill Junction (between Pontypool & New Inn and Abergavenny) were diverted to run via Swindon, Reading and Newbury as they could not be routed via Bristol. Adding to all this activity were several light loco movements through the station to the stabling sidings.
Between them, the duty yard shunter and the arriving traincrew worked very efficiently to quickly get each train stabled in the appropriate area of the yard and then dispose of the locos.
In addition to the locos pictured below, locos stabled in the yards included 59003 66025 67023 67027 7801 and 70806.
