A message from The Bodmin Railway
The 2026 Diesel Gala is almost here!
Join us for our 2026 Diesel Gala on the 25th to the 27th September.
Visiting us will be 31210 courtesy of Hanson & Hall Rail, and 33012 courtesy of the 71A Group. We are very grateful for both organisations support with the gala. A Class 31 hasn’t visited the Bodmin Railway since 1997 and the gala should be the first opportunity to red pen a Class 31 on the line to Boscarne Junction. It has also been 6 years since a Class 33 traversed our metals and we can’t wait to hear the 8 cylinder Sulzer engine work on our gradients again. 08444, 121020, 47306 of the home fleet will also be in action, and subject to confirmation and maintenance; 37142. Timetables with loco allocations will be published shortly, with further exciting announcements to come, so watch this space!
There will be 3 intensive days of running, with the rare use of Platform 2 at Bodmin General for passenger trains. 31210 will be in traffic all 3 days, and 33012 in traffic on the Saturday and the Sunday. With a Type 2, Type 3, Type 4, English Electric and Sulzer locomotives available for haulage there will be a great variety of mileage on offer.
