Guy Vincent was quick as a flash in answering this one:

Saturday 29th January 1977.  D1048 Western Lady worked the 1B81 0800 Bristol Temple Meads - Penzance followed by the 1M74 1355 Penzance - Birmingham New Street as far as Plymouth. Two more of Roger’s mystery shots identified!

Many thanks, Guy.

Re: Ottery St. Mary Signal Box

Yesterday, we received a query from Dave Wilson, who asked when the 'new' signalbox at Ottery St. Mary opened. We received the below response from Chris Osment:

New signal-box opened 20-Nov-1955

Many thanks, Chris!

We also received the following from Guy Vincent:

Just a couple of notes in reply to the query regarding the ‘modern style’ signal box that existed at Ottery St Mary.

The model firm Dapol advertise a scale model of the original 1874 signal box at Ottery which they state was replaced in 1955.  The new box was of brick and glass construction with a flat roof and stood next to the level crossing adjacent to the station. The website 'Disused Stations'
has several images of the station including a couple of the newer signal box and level crossing. The line closed in 1967 and the box had been demolished by 1969. There is also a nice photo of the box and crossing from 1965 on the teignrail.co.uk website.

Thank you very much, Guy,
