Penzance VR Revival & Vintage Running Day     Roger Winnen

21/4/2014

2014 Once again attracted the Annual Bus Running Day at Penzance organised by the Cornwall Bus Preservation Society with the support of the Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust.
With Easter falling later this year it gave time for the owners and crews to spend a more leisurely time in the area. An extensive timetable was organised with services commencing from 10.00 on Services to Land's End, St Buryan via Drift & Lamorna Turn, Perranuthnoe via Goldsithney, Mousehole, St Just via Newbridge also via Madron, Morvah and Pendeen. Three routes to St Ives, one via Lelant and Carbis Bay, one via Gulval, Ludgvan, Nancledra & Halsetown, and the remaining service via Gurnard's Head and Zennor.
Service 18 Ran to Camborne with a Royal Blue coach of 1969 OTA 632G which featured in the Penzance Aberdeen epic in 2009.
The final two services were Route 20 to Praa Sands and an Open Top service around Penzance.
This event was well supported during the day, however it is unfortunate that the weather took a downturn.
Another well organised event! Roll on the next one.

You may wonder at buses on a railway society site - well, what would FGW have done without buses recently?
