43042 is at the front of the 2E06 07.45 Penzance - Exeter St Davids with 43093 on the rear. A new location for me in Plymouth even after all these years ! This is taken from Plymbridge Road Bridge in Plympton. There's the usual excessive vegetation but still enough space to get a clear shot. A lot of high trees out of sight to the left would normally create shadow but at this time of the year the sun is nicely angled and mid morning shines directly through a large gap in these trees. This was the site of Plympton Station Goods Yard. The station was behind me on the opposite side of the road bridge and closed in 1959 but the platform mounds remained for a long time as did the signal box. The goods yard closed in 1964 and the site can be seen on the left and the path of an old siding to the right of the HST. Crossing Blatchford Viaduct , 43097 leads the 2C20 11.28 Exeter St Davids - Penzance with 43042 on the rear. The autumn colours are early this year with the leaves crinkly, dying and dropping off very quickly. I don't think there will be much of a show due to the heat and dry summer we had this year but hopefully I'm wrong. 07.10.2025, copyright Clive Smith.
