A picture from many years ago of 5239 now named 'Goliath' and performing valuable service on the Torbay steam railway. The locomotive was built at Swindon in August 1924. It had been based at Neath for all its working life and was withdrawn in 1963 and sent to Barry scrap yard.
5239 was rescued from Barry by the Dart Valley Railway, and arrived at Newton Abbot in June 1973 where most of the restoration work was carried out. In June 1976 it was transferred to Paignton for completion, and entered traffic in 1978. Thank you rescuing this view Neil.
