'Eddystone' at Swindon
Ken Mumford

A slightly chilly half hour at Swindon station, HOWEVER, things didn't work out as planned.

34028 was supposed to be held just west of the station for other eastbound trains to pass BUT it was allowed to come up the UML [Up Main Line] and stop while a few IETs went ahead of it eastwards.

This was a real bonus to the many railway enthusiasts that had gathered mainly on platform 3 to record this train.

It left Bristol (Temple Meads) 5 LATE, Bath Spa 5 LATE, passed Tingley Junction 9 LATE, Wootton Bassett Junction 5 LATE BUT did not stop at Swindon Signal Sw1212 but stopped in the station on the UML.  On leaving the station, it was recorded at Highworth Junction 13 LATE.

Water was taken during an approximate stop of 25 minutes at Milton Junction and dropped passengers at Reading ON TIME.

Many thanks, Ken. Great night shots.
