There can't be many days left for me now until I will no longer hear or see these iconic trains arriving and departing at my local station. Yes the Network Rail NMT will pass through on its monthly visit and the Midland Pullman set twice a year if I'm lucky, but that's it and certainly not stopping and pulling away from here. This is the still clean 43004 leading 43156 on the Sunday 2E13 11.49 Penzance - Exeter St Davids pulling away from Ivybridge station with a certain Jon Hird on board giving his drone a day off. 23.11.2025, copyright Clive Smith.

After spending the last few weeks desperately photographing the HST's, my friend Oli and I decided it would be nice to have a trip on them instead. Sunday was the logical choice - an early afternoon Penzance - Exeter allowed a decent run on one with a Cornish starting point without having to be up at the crack of dawn. 43004 arrives at Par with the 1149 Penzance - Exeter St. Davids. 23.11.2025, copyright Jon Hird.

We hopped off at Dawlish to get some chips and to see the sea. The timings gave us an hour here. My mate Oli watches 43004 depart for Exeter. 23.11.2025, copyright Jon Hird.
