Bill Elston

Picture
Good afternoon Roger, Another engineers train ran through Crewkerne today heading for Honiton Tunnel. This was 6Y96 from Westbury, conveying ballast, double headed by 66594 and 66537, seen about half a mile west of Crewkerne station, running some 30 min early. Please see photo, best wishes, Bill Elston. Copyright Bill Elston
Many Thanks Bill

Bath Green Park Station - Repairs
Paul Negus

Below are a couple of photos of the completed repairs to the side of Bath Green Park Station. The scaffolding has now come down but the Bristol end of the train shed has yet to be reopened for parking.

The internal shot shows the repaired ribbing, believed wooden, to the outer wooden planked wall. You will note that there is a very active vinyl record store in one of the station rooms!

As an extra, there is a photo of the small office(?) adjacent to the yard gates on James Street West which is accessed off the train shed. Not sure of its purpose but it is shown on the 1900s 6" to the mile OS Map. Perhaps a viewer can enlighten us?

Many thanks, Paul.

Regulator approves new Go-op train service between Swindon, Taunton and Weston-Super-Mare

The Office of Rail & Road has approved (with conditions) a proposal by a new operator, Go-op rail, to run services between Swindon, Taunton & Weston Super Mare, from the end of 2025.

Planned traction is Class 153 'Sprinters' - a type which was erradicated from our region several years ago by GWR. They propose to stable and maintain their stock at Thingley Junction.
