A look back at what was running on the Midland line to Bristol on Monday May 5th 1986. Mainly HSTs and DMUs back then and a few locomotive hauled services, both timetabled and reliefs.
Here are three different services I captured that Monday afternoon, all taken at the former Berkeley Road South junction. This is where a spur line ran from this junction to Berkeley South junction, joining the line from Berkeley Road to Sharpness. It ran across agricultural land, then crossed the A38 to join the Sharpness branch. It closed in 1963 following the Severn bridge disaster of October 1960.
Included is a picture of 45-134 passing the site in 1984. The gate in the foreground and land around it is where the junction used to be.
