Day 2 of the LSL 'Midland Pullman' HST's visit to Cornwall was spent making a visit to Kingswear from Penzance.

It will return this morning to Nottingham.

Many thanks all - nice to see a HST back here in the westcountry.

Re: The Eastern Envoy Tour
Ian Thomas

Once more, I have been lured back in time to my archive, and it’s all about the EASTERN ENVOY tour (1Z37) of Saturday, May 15th, 1999. It was a classic Pathfinder tour, as ever, and we joined at Bristol Parkway with D9000 (55-022), “ROYAL SCOTS GREY”, on the front. We then headed westward via Bristol T/M, Exeter, Plymouth, across the Tamar, and on to Par.

Here we picked up the wonderful LNER V2 No. 60080 Green Arrow for a run back eastward to Taunton, then via the Berks & Hants to Reading, whereupon we traversed the west curve and continued to Didcot. 60080 took water at Westbury (pic attached). From Didcot, a change of traction to D6700 (37-350), which took us back to Bristol Parkway. A great day out, with perhaps some unusual motive power in the west.

Furthermore, my last trip behind 55-022 was aboard the “DELTIC VENTURER”, a Severn Valley Railway organised tour from Leeds to London Paddington via Derby, Cheltenham, Swindon, and Reading. The return was via Oxford and Worcester, albeit in the dark, and then up the Lickey and onward to Leeds, all on Saturday, November 28th, 1981. Happy days!!!

Many thanks Ian - some nice Deltic memories there. We've not seen one here in the west for some time now.
