The Northern Belle is seen
passing through Plymouth
Roger Winnen

Owing to the cancellation of the Societies trip to North Devon as a result of the atrocious weather forecast I decided to photograph the Northern Belle for Penzance and the Cathedrals Express destined for Kingswear, as there would be shelter under station awnings on route. However not a day to visit North Devon!

First Class to St Keyne
Andrew Jones

Dear Keith, here is a photograph of a DMU at St Keyne, on the the Looe line.
In 1970 it was possible to travel 1st class in these units, something I had completely forgotten about!
My youngest daughter lives in Yarcombe on the Blackdown Hills and has sent me this link, which I am sure, many of your readers, would be interested in.  http://yarcombe.net/MessageBoard.html
When I was a child I lived in Whitemoor near St Austell. Many of my friends lived in railway carriages on Cleers Hill and there are still, even, to this day, people living in them. There is one on the roundabout at Lanivet and one at Retire, near Victoria, Roche.
 Best wishes Andrew
Many thanks to you for the picture and as your daughter says there is a 'good read and picture' in the Yarcombe Message Board - so please 'click' above. Thanks also to your daughter for drawing our attention to the Yarcombe Message board.
