A visit to part of the Former East Cornwall Minerals Branch to Callington on 28th December, 1977 by Roger Winnen. Visiting Luckett, Latchley where we met a lady who was employed by the company looking after Latchley Station from the opening in 1908, and remained living in the station house in 1977. A photograph was shown to us, and a copy made for my collection which was much appreciated, and also a picture of Chilsworthy.

A token of appreciation!  Helston branch
Finally for today Julian Hanwell has sent us images of his two staffs for the Helston branch.

Both of the above staffs had 'Nancegollan Crossing Place' riveted on the opposite face of the handle to either Helston or Gwinear West. This refers to a passing loop to the north of Nancegollan station. With effect from 15th of September 1937 the station was drastically altered, and a new box built the loop moving to the station.. The staffs remained as such. The Julian Hanwell Collection
Down at Drump Lane
Julian Hanwell  has, fortunately for us, a collection of pictures donated to him.
Picture
Drump Lane Box - taken in the 60's - does anyone know the signalman? Picture donated by the late Percy Brookes to Julian Hanwell for his collection.

Also, not previously on the web site in an enlarged version is the a view of the track layout in Drump Lane Signalbox as seen by Roger Winnen on the 11th September 1976. Copyright .. Of interest here are signs of diagram alterations with items 'whited out' such as the spur which served Redruth station goods on the up side, and a connection to the down main at Drump.
Mr Hanwell Hails from Hayle
A couple more gems from Julian Hanwell taken in the box at Hayle and nearby in about 1976. Added to main site.
It's good to see these railway characters again.

Redruth Junction Relics
It is amazing what there is out there in enthusiasts 'Treasure Troves'.  Very recently the plates which were fixed to the instrument shelf in Redruth Junction Box have come to light - many thanks to Julian Hanwell for these pictures.  The plates refer to Redruth station box, just a short distance away across the viaduct and the Carn Brea Yard Box a couple of miles away to the west. Redruth Junction box closed 16th October 1966.
