Mike Morant writes :- A bucolic scene surrounds Bulleid original Battle of Britain pacific no. 34074 46 Squadron scuttling along with just three coach BR Mk l set no. 572 and a GUV as the very light load at Cowley Bridge Junction near Exeter. 34074 had the misfortune to become one of the first withdrawals of this class along with 34055 Fighter Pilot in June 1963 after a short working life of only 15 years.
[Mike Morant collection]
A smashing picture from the Mike Morant Collection - many thanks for this. Massive earth works are nearing completion at this location in connection with a flood relief scheme. A large protective earth wall has been raised to the right alongside the track.  Further work is to be done further up the valley.
