Almost a sunny afternoon at Bere Ferrers Station Roger Winnen I made the best of a brilliant winters day with plenty of sunshine. Arriving at Plymouth on the 09.00 hours from Penzance at 10.54 I was just in time to see the 10.54 Gunnislake train departing as we approached the platform. Prior to the timetable change on the 1st January 2018 the 09.00 ran as the 08.44 from Penzance giving a connection with this service, the next train being at 12.54 which I caught. ![]() 180212b The memorial dedicated September 2017 of the 10 New Zealand soldiers killed 100 years after alighting from their train at Bere Ferrers. Some men had been designated to collect refreshments at the trains first scheduled stop after leaving Plymouth at Exeter. However the train was held at a signal at Bere Ferrers, the soldiers not knowing the countryside thought that they were in Exeter and climbed out to be hit by a passing train. Copyright Roger Winnen Pinhoe Contrasts Today David Tozer A contrast in liveries. 159003 awaits 159101 to clear the single line section at Pinhoe. Both these services at not booked to stop at Pinhoe. Of interest 159003 has lost the name 'Templecombe' which it acquired in Network South East days with their livery and was also carried when painted in Stagecoach livery. Regards Dave. Its a great improvement as previously tree growth badly obscured the view of the tunnel. Unfortunately as it was a brief visit there was no activity on the track itself I'm afraid.. Cheers Adrian.
