A visit to Kingswear

The picture below of Lydham Manor taken at Kingswear gives us a chance to remind you of a CRS Outdoor Event next Saturday 16th April.  A trip down the Dart from Totnes to Dartmouth. Then train from Kingswear to Paignton then finally bus back to Totnes. Details on this website.   Lets hope for good weather.  Many thanks to Adrian King for this golden oldie.

The picture below prompted Graham Harris who is interested in stock movements to forward the likely previous duties of the stock on the train below.                                                                                                            I believe the train to be the 12.05 Penzance - Paddington relief (1Z15) which had been noted with 1033 on August 6th and 1056 on August 20th. It would appear to use the stock of the 21.15 ThO Swansea - Paddington, running as the 5Z97 03.15 FO Empty Coaching Stock from Old Oak Common to Penzance, back to Paddington, to then work the 20.38 FO Paddington to Fishguard and finally the 08.00 Cardiff to Portsmouth and return on the Saturday. To me it is a most intriguing use of spare rolling stock - lots of miles!   Thank you Graham
