John Ball recalls
the North Tawton Miniature Railway &
Last train at Brentor
On the Saturday of the closure weekend of Bere Alston to Okehampton, the PRC ran a bus from Okehampton station to North Tawton for a visit to the miniature railway in someone's big garden in the town - I think that has now long gone. Does anybody know please.
Best wishes, John      Many thanks John

Golden Oldies - Silk Mills
Andrew Jones
Dear Keith, the recent photo of the steam crane at Taunton, brings back memories.
In May 1970 I was about to use the silk mills crossing, when the steam crane was being maneuvered into the adjacent siding. Unfortunately the Warship is unknown, but I believe there was extensive track lifting taking place at this time, especially at Norton Fitzwarren and the quadrupled track to Cogload. Has anyone any information on this crane. please.

Best wishes Andrew

Crewkerne
Picture
The Railtour is the Exeter-Solent Railtour. The brickwork on the left is the lower part of a retaining wall for Crewkerne's upside goods yard. The footpath across the line from Misterton can be seen with the loco passing over it. Footpaths also ran from either side of the line to the upside and down goods yards. I think this pic (Below) of 30827 on an engineering train at Crewkerne on 2-9-1962 will make it clear. The foot crossing is just behind me in this pic. Copyright John Cornelius
