Yeovil Railway Centre
John Cornelius

hi Keith, Here are a few pics I took today of 34052 at Yeovil junction,
plus one with Dave Tozer. Hope to go over tomorrow to photograph 35028.
cheers JOHN C.
In view of a probable double visit this weekend the pictures are going in as a Feature - we look forward to tomorrow. KJ

Multiple Matters
Guy Vincent

Here are five images showing a variety of liveries that i came across this morning. 8th July 2017

1) 153325 & 153329 at Westbury with 9O01 0524 Westbury-Salisbury.   Since the track was relaid through Salisbury's platform 3 in January 2016 class 153's have been prohibited from passing through due to restricted clearance. This is believed to be due to the door steps which could foul the coping slabs of the curved platform face.  Any train that includes a 153 in its formation has to be given a class 9 headcode to ensure the signaller at Salisbury knows to route the service through either P2 or P4.  For the same reason class 153's are not allowed beyond St Denys towards Portsmouth.    Ironically for the first 4 years of their troubled lives as class 155 Sprinters, the then two-car sets (with recessed steps) were used daily (door faults permitting!) on nearly all South Wales-South Coast services.

2) The 'ghost' unit 153305 paired with sister 153361 at Bristol Temple Meads on the 0721 Cardiff departure.

3) Newly repainted former 'Thames Turbo' (now 'Severn Turbo' presumably?) 166205 with a SWT 159 for company at Bristol Temple Meads.  The 166 departed as the 0834 to Avonmouth and the 159 on the 0851 Salisbury/Waterloo service.

4) 166205 again in P6 at Bristol.

5) Queen's favourite 43027 (formerly 'Glorious Devon') waiting to depart Bristol on the 0918 Paignton-Paddington, diverted from Bath via Newbury due to another 8 day closure of the direct line via Chippenham, this time for essential track lowering work in preparation for the new Bio-Mode class 800-801 Hitachi Super Express Trains.

Cheers and best regards for now

Guy V

PS Word is that a GBRF class 66 is to be named at Devonport this coming Monday (10th).  Times for the outward run are now on Real Time Trains (1130 Westbury-Devonport Royal Dockyard) so hopefully some of your locals will be able to get out to see this.  Also,on Tuesday 11th the Royal Scotsman round Britain tour reaches Newton Abbot just after 7.00am, locos 66743 & 66746 (both in Scotsman maroon livery) are expected to be in charge. RTT for times again.
We have to be extremely grateful to Guy for the wealth of information he gives us - many thanks indeed Guy,

Salisbury Lions
Old GWR Station
Terry Waldron
A shot of Salisbury GWR Station, it appears to be prior to 1957 but no actual date known. Note the Lion Heads on the edge of the canopy. These feature in many other GWR Stations, all thought (but not proven) to be of IKB Design. There were some 200 lions in total, as far as I have found, in the main to stations built between 1854 and 1860. At least 4 Lions Heads are known to exist, 1 at Didcot, 1 at Swindon Steam 1 at NRM and 1 in private collection. Photo Courtesy of Salisbury Railway Social Club Regards Terry Waldron
