Here are some pictures from earlier in the year, which might go into the Ponts Mill gallery. I feel that there is something rather intriguing about track that is left in place to be covered by tree growth. Mother nature takes over the so-called Permanent Way, which is no longer so permanent !

Maurice Dart refers to this pony-worked 2ft gauge tramway between a china clay pan kiln in Prideaux Wood and a loading wharf that was served by a standard gauge siding off the branch line to Ponts Mill. Considering that it was last used in 1962, it is surprising that the track is still so clearly visible.

Lynn Murnaghan demonstrates the very low headroom - sufficient for a Pony . One wanders why the arch has been painted white - the bridge is marked with its 'Network Rail' numbering.

On Thursday 26th April 2018 the Great Britain Railtour visited the Yeovil Railway Centre, an honour for both YRC and railtour passengers.

The GB Railtour having been pulled by the 'Black Five' back to Yeovil Pen Mill with the 'U' at the rear is now headed in grand style off to Weymouth hauled by the 'U'. 26th April 2018. Copyright John Cornelius.
