January Jaunts
Craig Munday

Some usable sunshine saw me out with the camera in recent days.

A pair of class 153 made a nice departure from Newquay on the 10th. The units are seen passing Chapel. This area seems ripe for housing developments in the coming years.

Sun 14th saw a mixture of workings in nice light. I popped up to Respryn to chance my hand in getting 43002 in sun and mist. The sun had just punched through to reach track level as the hum of the HST came into earshot running along the river up to Brown Queen Tunnel. The thick mist had been swirling since my arrival, and stayed in the air as the blue liveried power car passed by. Previous winter visits had been around this time.

The beauty of Respryn is that it's one of the few places in the Duchy where a shot both ways works. The morning shot from / to Bodmin Parkway in quite pleasant too.

Later in the afternoon news spread of 57604 dragging a HST from Long Rock to Laira. I headed west on family business, only to just catch some stubborn cloud at Penponds. The skies clear eastbound sadly.

All the best,  Craig.                    Many thanks indeed Craig.

The views that on the day one might not bother with but thank heavens Roger did. The timber building was soon to be demolished. Lostwithiel Station building on the 23rd August 1980. Copyright Roger Winnen.

Bristol Temple Meads
Martin Scane

Trip to Bristol on Sat which necessitated a bus journey between Plymouth and Tiverton. This coincided with 50008 Thunderer at the head of the rail grinder train. That caught me literally unawares at Tiverton Parkway as it literally thundered through. Regards Martin.  Thanks Martin
