Hayle viaduct                        Some pictures captured by Mike Roach

6/11/2014

With a massive project such as this it is our intention, time permitting, to eventually collect a series of pictures depicting the on going work of replacement of the viaduct flooring timbers.  We have already had some from Mick House, Roger Salter and Roger Winnen.

Here is a selection from Mike Roach both from Ground level and from a train. Date & time as per pictures.

Looking through the east arch along Penpol Terrace at Hayle. The Hayle railway, from Redruth paralleled Penpol Terrace on the riverside and once passed just to the left of the left hand pier. Copyright Mike Roach

Looking broadside at the southern face of the 34' high viaduct. The original Hayle station was approximately where the light green car presently is. The Hayle Railway line continued on on a sharp curve to pass inside the pier which is just catching the light and on to serve the South Quay. Copyright Mike Roach

A view, looking back towards Hayle Station for a down train. The mass of street lights in the distance are at the station and around the small car park. This has been taken over by a 'camp' of portakabins. 5th November 2014 Copyright Mike Roach

Further across the viaduct now the view somewhat obstructed by the obtrusive 'superstore' being built alongside. Copyright Mike Roach
