BLS DMU Railtours

Good Afternoon, hope everybody is well.
Please see below two slide images that were recently acquired which I thought may be of interest for the site. The slides show railtour activity back in May 1986 from the Branch Line Society with the bright British Telecom liveried Class 118 DMU set P460.

The first image shows the set at Liskeard, competing for brightness with some daffodils that are in flower on the platform. This image was taken on 3rd May 1986 and is 'The Mayflower' railtour that ran from Plymouth North Road to Friary, then to Liskeard where passengers can be seen leaving the train so it can move onto the Looe branch (passengers are not permitted to travel on the connection between the main line and the branch), where they will rejoin the train at Liskeard's platform 3 before it travels down the branch to Moorswater. After this stop, it climbed back up to Liskeard before reversing again and heading back to Plymouth before a final trip that went to Gunnislake and back. Copyright Ross Griffiths.
The second image I think is at Parkandillack? This would be the next day's railtour which was titled 'The Cornishman'. This again started at Plymouth North Road and then went to Penzance before visiting several branches and freight only lines, including the Burngullow to Parkandillack line as pictured here, where several clay hood wagons can be seen stored. 04.05.1986, copyright Ross Griffiths.
Wow, Ross, great finds! Thanks very much for sharing them with us. No doubt some readers were 'on it'. Second picture certainly looks like Parkandillack.

Under lit semaphores

Here's my reworking of Steve's photo of the class 57 stabled at Worcester Shrub Hill. Apologies for the quality but it was taken using my phone at about 5.30pm on Thursday evening in the rain. I just couldn't resist trying to capture those lovely semaphores all lit up with a shining locomotive beneath! Best regards to everyone at your brilliant website. 12.02.2026, copyright Chris Bradley.
