Easter Heritage Gala - South Devon - Roger Winnen's Report

20/4/2014

Report from Roger Winnen
From Good Friday 18th April to Easter Monday 21st April the South Devon Railway were holding there Easter Heritage Gala.
This year the theme being "Delivering the Goods" with a number of freight trains combined with an hourly passenger service in each direction between Totnes-Staverton and Buckfastleigh.
The engines rostered for the occasion being Worcester locomotive society L92 Based at the South Devon, resident 3205, 46521 by courtesy of the Great Central, English Electric Class 37  6975 and D7612 a sulzer type 2 together with shunters D2246 at Staverton and D3721 at Buckfastleigh.
The trains, and the station refreshment rooms were very busy all day on Saturday, combined with the glorious weather it made a perfect day.
Congratulations to the South Devon Railway.
David Tozer actually beat Roger to it visiting on Good Friday, but his pictures, excellent quality stills from his video didn't reach me until after Rogers.
However, as they are away from stations they fit in nicely in one slot.  Many thanks David.
