Final stretch at Penzance
Andrew Triggs

No doubt CRS will be inundated with Castle Set pictures this week, so find enclosed shots at Penzance taken today (on yet another dull day alas)

The end is nigh! Many thanks, Andrew. I imagine we will see many photos during this final week of scheduled English HST operations.

St. Austell sojourn
Steve Clark

Chores prevented me from doing too much on Sunday, so I settled for my first night shots for a while to capture the last Sunday Castle heading West and a 4-car 158 on the Up. I believe the 158s are also on borrowed time in the West, once the 175s come on stream.

Many thanks Steve. We don't see many cl.158 photos.

The 'Rail 200' train leaves Somerset
Bill Elston

The Rail 200 Exhibition Train has completed its visit to the WSR. A pair of GBRf class 66 locos, worked down from Doncaster to Bishops Lydeard to move this train forward to Reading Traincare Depot.

The locos used were GWR green 66689 (renumbered from 66779)  EVENING STAR and 66710 Karen Harrison in Rail 200 livery.

Fortunately, they stopped at Taunton to pick up a pilot man for the run to Bishops Lydeard.

66106 eventually leaves Swindon East Loop after waiting some 25 minutes with 6C03 Northolt Sidings to Severnside Sita with Domestic and Industrial Waste from London. I felt sorry for passengers waiting on platform 4 as this train crawled along the length of that platform and the 'odour' from its contents! 57312 was en route to Laira from Reading after the sleeper loco (57301) the previous night suffered a fault. 08.12.2025, copyright Ken Mumford.
Many thanks as always Ken, a great variety of trains at Swindon.
