Plymouth Suburbs

DB Maritime blue liveried 66051 crosses the Royal Albert Bridge from the Devon side as 0V76 10.35 Westbury - Goonbarrow Junction light engine movement. This would normally be hauling a train of clay empty JIA wagons but due to an error by DB in the week the loaded wagons weren't sent up to Stoke on Thursday . Since St Blazey depot has now closed there are no refuelling facilities so the loco was sent to Westbury for fuel. Thankfully the same loco was sent back instead of a red example thus offering us local photographers another week to capture this different livery. 29.11.2025, copyright Clive Smith.

Many thanks Clive. A weekend of changing weather here in the west, but when the sun shone it was glorious.

Westbury area HST's
Steve Clark

Before moving to Cornwall I spent a lot of time around the Westbury area mainly for photographing freight from the Mendips, but I did manage to record some passing HSTs.

Guy Vincent writes regarding the above images:

Two more nice Western images this morning. D1057 Western Chieftain identified on the 1A45 1240 Penzance-Paddington, the second photo shows unidentified D1012 Western Firebrand on the 1Z45 1225 Penzance-Paddington relief.

Many thanks, Guy.

The last day of Autumn
Jon Hird

Picture
November 30th marks the final day of Autumn in the UK, and for we railway enthusiasts and photographers it's been an Autumn to remember. All hands have been on deck frantically recording the final few weeks of GWR HST operations amongst a dazzling display of reds, yellows and oranges. 43098 leads the delayed 0845 Plymouth - Penzance around the curves of Carlyon. 30.11.2025, copyright Jon Hird.
Picture
I only made this photo by the skin of my teeth, not even enough time to get the camera out so this is a rushed phone shot. The same set heads past Treesmill en route to Exeter, running as the 1149 Penzance - Exeter St. Davids, now with 43187 at the head. 30.11.2025, copyright Jon Hird.
