I barely had time to 'change ends' before Colas 43303 and 43274 rolled onto the viaduct heading for Paignton with the Plain Line Pattern Recognition (PLPR) train - going very slowly as they were following a GWR service through Cornwall. 13.12.2024, copyright Jon Hird.
Esso Oil Tankers at Cattewater

Re 1964 Part 19 by Michael L Roach (click here), the first image of Oil Tanker Valley at Cattewater on 6 August 1959 shows a rake of Esso oil tankers. Quite coincidentally, I had just taken delivery of a model in Gauge 1 (10mm to the foot scale) of one of these tankers. My previous search on the internet looking for one of these in service had drawn a blank so this was welcome confirmation of their provenance, especially the livery!
For those interested, the model is by Accucraft and measures about 7" over headstocks. The level of detail is excellent in this scale.
