A 'summers day' at Par
Jon Hird

On a damp and dreary 08.08.2024, a GWR 'Castle Class' HST consisting of 43186 and 43097 leaves Platform 3 at Par heading for Penzance. The set had previously worked to Newquay, hence a departure from platform 3. Copyright Jon Hird.

Changing times at Par - the death bell has already tolled for the semaphores which stand armless, a sort of ghostly reminder of the way the railways were not-so-long ago. The HST's are now surely on borrowed time too, with the imminent cascade to GWR of ex-TFW Class 175's. Copyright Jon Hird.

Many thanks Paul - interesting to see the loco taking water at St. Austell - most likely impossible now due to the busy timetable on the mainline.
