34096 at Sidmouth Junction
Michael Adams
Picture
Hello Roger, here is another picture from Michael Adams with the same history as recent ones you have put on the site, thank you. It shows 34096 ‘Trevone’ with the down ACE on an unknown date.Comparing this picture with one on page 15 in the excellent book by Peter Gray ‘Steam on West of England main lines’ ,I am confidant this picture was taken at Sidmouth Junction. Thanks ,all the best,
Many Thanks Michael
And a reply from David Tozer:
The photograph of 34096 at Sidmouth Junction. This is in fact the up ACE - 1230 from Exeter Central. I started here when I left school in the Booking Office many, many years ago. You can see the bay platform which services for Sidmouth or Exmouth started from.
David Tozer

Many Thanks David

A busy day on the branch
'Boardmasters' specials to Newquay
Jon Hird,
Peter Murnaghan & Roger Winnen

43097 & 43186 worked yesterday mornings (07.08) 09:18 Newquay - Par. The set had previously worked to Newquay from Plymouth. This was the first booked HST turn on the Newquay branch (as opposed to ad-hoc vice-150 turns) for many years.

The same is due to happen again tomorrow and Friday.
