The 4 wagons from Treviscoe have been uncoupled beneath the road over rail bridge, allowing 66054 to run round the 7 left behind earlier. The loco would then push the train of 7 onto the 4, before departing. 14.08.2025, copyright Mark Lynam.

Bodmin today, or was it 1960?
Andrew & Diane Jones

Every day is a real treat when I wake up to the CRS site. Roger and many other photographers spent a good deal of money in the 50's and 60's purchasing film and we have a lot to be thankful to them.

Nowadays we don't need to worry about light conditions, constant adjustments,  who even remembers F8 at 200 and the slower speeds if using early colour film.

How many photographs were discarded for being slightly blurred when now modern technology could rescue them.

I have attached a reminder of how easy it is today to capture an image, that would have taken some skill when we were young.

Many thanks for your kind words, Andrew. I don't think that anybody can argue that the process of actually taking a photograph nowadays is the easiest it's ever been, but the 'art' of composing the shot in a pleasing way remains much the same - such as seen in your excellent photograph above.

Swindon Scenes
Ken Mumford

I decided to pay a visit to Swindon station after several weeks of not
being there.

I met some very interesting folk - some pursuing their railway hobby.
Here are my photos together with some detail.
Picture
Already ticking over on the UML [Up Main Line] was 5R61 [Bristol (Temple Meads) to Reading Traincare Depot - unit 165137. RTT [Real Train Times] told me that it was planned to have a maximum speed of 40mph as ecs [empty coaching stock]. It was quite a hot day and I noted that the radiator grill of the rear coach was well covered [but not completely] with leaves and other debris. 14.08.2025, copyright Ken Mumford.
Picture
Another slightly different view with 1C14 and IET 800310 [Paddington - Weston Super Mare], 5R61 waiting on the UML and 1G15 and IET 800002 [Cheltenham Spa - Paddington] alongside platform 1. 14.08.2025, copyright Ken Mumford.
Picture
Meanwhile [again caught by surprise] came 37800 'Cassiopeia' hauling with quite a typical throaty exhaust 5Q86 [Gillingham E.M.U. Depot to Newport Docks (Sims Group)].virtually ON TIME! 14.08.2025, copyright Ken Mumford.
Picture
6B12 returning through the station [alongside platform 4] as 1A22 and IET unit 800320 [Bristol (Temple Meads to Paddington] approaches platform 3 ON TIME. 14.08.2025, copyright Ken Mumford.
Many thanks as always Ken, very much appreciated.
