The empty sleeper assisted through Bodmin Parkway by 57310                                                                           Report by Roger Salter

28/9/2014

Hi Keith,
This is the 5Z70 1040 Penzance-Old Oak Common spare set after 57604 failed on Thurs/Friday morning leaving a HST replacement set to take passengers up on Friday night. 57310 & 57603 brought down the Sat.morning sleeper. Apparently 57310 also failed after this photo was taken at Teignmouth.  Regards, Roger  Many thanks Roger

A BUMPER DAY PICTURES FROM CRAIG MUNDAY

28/9/2014

Hi Keith
I realise 27th was a bumper day, but please feel free to have these too. I was early Liskeard and managed this jammy sunny shot of 5Z70, the returning empty Sleeper train following 57604's failure the evening before. The down sleepers had 57310 tucked in to work this train back. I detected a smell of dragging brakes as it passed the box and Plymouth & Control were advised. The train later developed a fault up near Totnes. There's something to be said for lineside Signalboxes, and Signalmen with keen senses!!
Also pictured are 66099 & 168 which ran up to Westbury to collect the RHTT wagons, which I also pictured at Largin on its return.
FINALLY, I have some pictures from the excellent B&WR diesel gala with the popular Colas class 56 56302 making an appearance along with the line regulars, 37142, 47306 & 33110.  Kind regards for now Craig

                                                                        Many thanks Craig

A chance shot at Portsmouth Arms                             Roger Winnen

28/9/2014

Travelling on the rail replacement bus service between Barnstaple and Exeter on Saturday 27th September 2014 afforded a chance view from the top of the double decker of the pullman coach 'Aries' normally kept under wraps. Due to distortion and colouration through the bus window the picture has been heavily touched up.

Shot of the day - three in one                              By Mike Bojko

28/9/2014

Hello Keith, I took the opportunity to get shots of a rare event at Bodmin Parkway today. Its not often that you get three classes of diesel in one shot there. First picture is 60096 stabled at the siding next to the up platform.
The second is of 60096 again with 56302, and Bodmin's 47306 in the middle. Regards  Mike Bojko

Quite an amazing and lucky shot by Mike Bojko at Bodmin Parkway - a unique view.  Remember Martin Duff's of three HST's in view at once at Truro.

Hi Keith  Here a some pictures of Colas Rail's class 56 number 56302 arriving at St Blazey to collect their latest acquisition 60096. The sun came out at exactly the right time for us too! 56302 starred in the B&WR diesel gala on 27th Sept.  Cheers  Craig  Many thanks Craig, as no doubt will be seen elsewhere on the Newspage 56302 starred in the Bodmin and Wenford Gala.

Another 'Golden Oldie'; but where is it?               Pat and Mike Loze

26/9/2014

Hi Keith,  Another of my Dad's old photos.
Not the most interesting one you'll ever see I guess
but I like it. It is the only railway picture on the roll
of negatives. The rest are of the family.
I don't know exactly when or where it was taken.
I suspect it is from the early 1960s and may have
been taken from Dobbs Lane overlooking the sidings
at Truro Station. Dad took a lot of photos from there
of steam engines shunting. Unfortunately I have not
been able to find any of these (negatives or photos)
but I haven't totally given up hope yet.
Maybe someone will recognize the track layout.
Mike Loze and Pat Loze

Many thanks to Pat and Mike - where it can YOU help?  By the way, keep looking, we're keen to see Reg's pictures of the shunting etc.
Picture
Is it Truro yard from Dobbs Lane - any ideas please. This picture from the late Reg Loze collection (Copyright) kindly submitted by Pat and Mike Loze,
