Todays post from Craig Munday

23/2/2013

Hi Keith
St Blazey depot crammed with diesels - just like it used to be on Saturdays! Three locos reside by the fuelling point, including DBS liveried 66152 Derek Holmes.
66066 passes Par with 6C53 Parkandillack to Exeter Riverside too. Unusual for a Saturday.
Best wishes,  Craig

                                                                      Many thanks.

A couple of pictures of unusual events received recently from Julian Stephens. We are not looking for pictures of accidents or incidents but should you have any you wish to share we'd be grateful. Julian has also sent in pictures to be included in our diesel and steam railtour collection.

Steam to stop short at Par                            Nigel Tregoning

21/2/2013

Many thanks to Nigel Tregoning for the following information from the web. It would appear that on Saturday 20th April 2013 the down steam train hauled by rebuilt West Country class No. 34046 “Braunton” and Battle of Britain class No. 34067 “Tangmere” will pass through the wonderful Cornish countryside crossing numerous viaducts en route to Par. From here we transfer to our hotels in Newquay where we arrive in the late afternoon.
On Sunday 21st April After a leisurely breakfast we depart Newquay mid morning hauled by our two ex-Southern Railway Pacifics. We join the main line at Par and should then enjoy some spirited running through the splendid Cornish countryside. We cross Brunel’s Saltash Bridge before entering Plymouth.

Timings will be advised as and when we know them.

Trains turning back at Liskeard                     K.Jenkin

21/2/2013

During the engineering work repairing and waterproofing Coldrennick viaduct (east of Menheniot station) trains ran only between Penzance and Liskeard, a connecting bus service operated from Liskeard to Plymouth, or for passengers joining the trains prior to St Austell buses ran from St Austell to Plymouth.  Thus for the period from Saturday 16th February to Thursday 21st February 2013 the crossover at the eastern end of Liskeard station saw intensive use.

Another of the spare's on the way to Penzance and details of the return working.                                                                       From Nathan Stockman

18/2/2013

In order to provide standby during this engineering block FGW sent two spare power cars and a TGS to Long Rock. It ran as 5Z80 12:55 Laira to Long Rock formed 43130 + 44002 + 43097. Both these power cars have already been swapped onto operational sets. The mini HST is currently at Long Rock formed 43004 + 44002 + 43021. If anyone wants to see this return, it goes back on Friday (22nd) as: 5Z77 Long Rock 13:16, Truro 13:49, Par 14:15, Liskeard 14:40. Attached photo of 5Z80 at Moorswater.

Roger Salter has kindly been at Long Rock, quite early in the morning, to catch the early sun and the spares i.e. HST Power cars and coach being split at the maintenance depot. Many thanks Roger.

Bolitho Engineering train                            Nathan Stockman

17/2/2013

Nathan writes :- Weather pretty good again today (16th Feb 2013)  so went out for 6W34 13:13 St.Blazey to Liskeard. Which is seen here on Bolitho Viaduct having entered the engineers possession and is creeping towards Menheniot. You can't tell from the photo but the train is actually travelling up the down line. The loco is 66194. Comment, N.B. We're looking across the viaduct at Liskeard, a charming scene.
                                                                               Many thanks Nathan.
