Mollinis Crossing in 2024

Much has changed at Mollinis since 1978, most notably the singling of the line with the removal of the Carbis branch. One rail of which is still set into the tarmac of the crossing, the other appears to have been repurposed as a convenient place for a drain. 08.04.24, copyright Jon Hird.

Last Fridays test train - a correction
Last week, we published a post (click here) featuring images of Colas Rail powercars and a Network Rail test train, which we incorrectly referred to as 'The New Measurement Train (NMT)'. We have received the below email with more details of this train and the job which it carries out, which readers may find interesting.
Could I point out please that the train that visited last Friday was not the NMT but was a Plain Line Pattern Recognition (PLPR) train.
Formed of Mark one and Mark two coaches , treated as a loco-hauled push-pull train (can be 43s or 37s).
The NMT is the train entirely made up of Mark 3 test coaches , worked by 43s only and treated as an HST.
