59003
At Home weekend
Guy Vincent

59003 'Yeoman Highlander' at rest stabled between two sets of buffers in Westbury down yard on the morning of 8th. This loco, new in early 1986, was sold by Foster Yeoman in 1997 and spent almost 18 years in Germany before being purchased by GB Railfreight and returned to the UK in October 2014.    On 13th of that month I ventured to Oxford and caught it in poor weather as it was towed down from Immingham docks to Eastleigh works for repairs, not of course knowing at that time where it would end up being used.  Of late it has been semi-permanently based at Westbury where it's duties almost exclusively comprise M-F shuttling back and forth to Eastleigh twice-daily with engineer's trip freights.  Unfortunately it is not easy to catch this loco in close proximity to one of it's fellow 59/0 series as they tend always to pass through the station on stone workings when it isn't close by, but I live in hope!

                       Regards, Guy Vincent.

Many thanks Guy for your research and your detailed records.

Dear Keith , Please find attached photographs of USA 2-8-0 S160,  6046 working the morning timetable at Kingswear, today 8th June 2019. A poignant reminder of the American contribution to D Day landings this week 75 years ago.

Best wishes Andrew.         Many thanks to you  Andrew and also to your daughter and son in law Sienna and Bren Taylor.

Good Home wanted/needed.
Porthleven
Karl Hewlett

Whilst looking for something else I came across this article which I thought CRS readers might be interested in.  Lets hope that this historic carriage gets preserved despite the ongoing planning application, perhaps if any reader knows of a group who can give it a good home?

Many thanks Karl.  There is an interesting picture if you click on the link Karl has given. (The coach needs a bit of attention though!).  On second thoughts I wonder how it got there - was it taken to Helston and off loaded there - still a fair old way to Porthleven, steep hills and bends to negotiate.
