An un-dated casual shot taken at St Erth where a lot is soon to change. The signal is pulled off for an up loco hauled train of mark 2 stock. Soon the passenger circulating area in the foreground will be increased and the St Ives platform consequently shortened. The very tall and heavily leaden telegraph pole has long gone. Following on from your shot yesterday of the two 'Westerns' in the 'con-yard at Swindon Works on 7th August 1976, I have found a photo on www.wnxx in the disposals gallery showing D1047 'Western Lord' (dated 1.6.76) displaying the headcode 5705 as the loco in your picture does.   Therefore we can safely assume D1047 is the first of the two locos you caught.  D1047 arrived at Swindon on 1.5.76 and is recorded as disposed of on 9.9.76. The second locomotive further back being D1069 Western Vanguard. Many Thanks to Guy Vincent for this information.

Thought you might like this Railway sign with the wrong spelling of “Axle” for the Charlton Road Bridge, close to Cogload Junction Taunton. It is the same at both ends! Rob.   Yes many thanks for that Rob, I too frequently make 'Typos' but at least mine are easily remedied!!
