Focus on Fowey
Carne Point
Driver Alan Peters

Many of us are envious of our very good friend Driver Alan Peters he get where none of us can get and is able to get those unrehearsed pictures to delight us all.
Alan writes :-  Whilst at Fowey docks I took the opportunity to take a few pictures including the discharge hopper with 2 x CDA wagons hiding inside, a slightly battered CDA which is used as a barrier wagon (note the picture has been photoshoped for effect) and No8 jetty loading crane. The Lostwithiel to Fowey branch is a suitable candidate for the 'Reversing Beeching fund' although it is difficult to see how the line could re-open past Carne Point to the site of the original station?

Many thanks Alan, your pictures without anybody about make for very interesting viewing. As you say getting past the docks to a new station for Fowey at the old station site should the line re-open for passenger use is very difficult to imagine. From the good old days when the line was open for passenger use one seemed to be passing unending docks before the station was finally reached. Even then the old station was not ideally situated for the town, a long walk was necessary to reach the extremes. KJ

With reference to Alan Peters remarks concerning a resumption of passenger trains on the Fowey branch to a new Fowey station and the unlikelyhood of. I have four rather poor pictures taken of the 'Two Rivers Railtour' on the  10th September 1966.  The train had already been to Moorswater and thence to Par. St Blazey, through the Pinnock tunnel and down to Fowey. Thence on to Boscarne Junction to change onto brake vans for a trip to Wenford Bridge.

Apologies for the rather poor quality of the photographs - like us they're aging.

There were two further DMU trains through the Pinnock Tunnel - these were on the 11th May 1968  on a very intensive railtour by the PRC and finally on the another intensive railtour on the 8th June 1968, by the Branch Line Society.
Roger Winnen was on the PRC tour but had no camera - if, however, you have pictures of either of these railrours and would be willing to share them with us then we would extremely grateful to receive them.
