My next batch is almost to the day from 1992, 29 years ago!!

This was the road move from Exeter St Davids to Tonbridge Wells of 50019 Ramilies. The loco was purchased by the Class 50 locomotive association and was heading for The Spa Valley railway, Kent for preservation. It is now at the Mid Norfolk Railway.

The loco only moved less than 2 miles before the tractor unit hauling it failed. The 50 ended up stuck in Holloway street Exeter for over a day until the tractor unit was repaired. I believe it was a differential failure, unless anyone knows better.

I have also scanned a newspaper cutting of the incident, a bit of an argument developed on who was going to pay for the police ect

Topsham road /Holloway street is one of the busiest main routes into Exeter and the stuck class 50 caused considerable disruption to traffic.

Hope this is of interest!

All the best

Paul

I wonder if this  is of any interest.  I visited Thruthall on the 23rd of Dec when the weather was rather wet, to say the least.  The tide was in!
Belated Happy New Year etc.

Many thanks Phil. Pity there was no train, would have been good for a 'reflection shot'. Did  you get there by barge!!
