Autumnal Scenes
Craig Munday

There, I've mentioned the "A" word again. Autumnal, it seemed the Summer of 2018 would never end, but August was a bit limp compared to the heatwave.

34052 is seen at St Blazey on Sept 2nd.

The light hasn't been special lately, but a lovely bright afternoon on 5th saw me hook up with Dave Mitchell and Nigel Tregoning who were out with similar expectations.

The wet conditions have caused the lineside vegetation to sprout up beyond belief. The recently cut back waterway at Tywardreath and Rundles Walk, St Blazey getting overgrown. Also the top of the drive shot at Golant was almost gone. Fortunately Ann & Chris kindly let us down onto their patio at Robins Rest for the classic causeway shot.

All the best for now,  Craig Munday
Many thanks Craig

Mixed Fortunes on the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway
Roger Winnen
Travelling to Paignton yesterday we took advantage of 1st Class Advance purchase singles on the 07.41 from Penzance and return of only £8.60 in each direction. First Class travel entitles passengers to complimentary food and drink aboard buffet services. Well worth it!
However the weather was hit and miss, and Paignton was very quiet as most of the tourist seemed to have returned home. 6023 King Edward 11 was running together with L94

Very sad news
     - John Cornelius

Dear Keith and Roger,

Very sadly, John passed away last evening at 11pm. In the end it was very quick but peaceful.
As yet, I do not know the funeral date.
Even yesterday John wanted to look up the Cornwall website to see the contents...he was an ardent fan.

Kind regards,
Jane Cornelius - Johns sister.

Received at 07.02 6th September 2018

Newquay Tunnel
Roger Winnen

On the 13th September 1982 the CRS paid a visit to Newquay following the Treffry Tramway. A highlight was enter the tunnel through which the tramway passed on route to the harbour. A short while ago Colin Burges brought us pictures taken very recently in its role as a surf and bathing outlet.  Prior to this it was for a number of years the location of an aquarium and Roger Winnen brings you pictures taken inside the tunnel during this period.

Roche station was until 3rd January 1965 a passing place. With the closure of the loop the down platform remained in use making it necessary for any passengers to cross the running line to gain access to the platform. There are adequate warning notices. Copyright The late John Cornelius
