Lydford
Donated picture
Once a busy G,W,R, and Southern Railway Junction - it closed G.W.R. 31st December 1962 and Southern 8th May 1968,  One can only hope that before too long the former Southern trackbed will carry services between Okehampton, and the reopened Tavistock stationon o Plymouth via Bere Alston.

Many thanks for this picture - soon to be the scene of track re-laying??

Clevedon
and branch from Yatton
Michael Bussell & Martin Tester
It is with many thanks that we Michael Bussell and Martin Tester we are able to provide much more extensive coverage of the branch just prior to its closure and witness the destrucion of Clevedon station. We also have from Martin pictures of Yatton and the history of a broad gauge vehicle once in use by station staff at Yatton.  Michael covers the last services and in three stages the sad removal of Clevedon station - pictures ideal for modellers.
Picture
It's the 17th September 1966.and the branch signal for Clevedon is off just a few days away from the branches closure on the 3rd October 1966. The branch to Cheddar and Witham departed from the bay platform on the extreme left of this picture - that service was withdrawn on the 9th September 1963. Copyright Martin Tester.
Picture
Again on the 17th September 1968 gives us a glimpse of the broad gauge vehicle at Yatton. Copyright Martin Tester.
Picture
It is July 1966 and the single coach railcar stands at the trunkated platform at Clevedon - the metals to the former buffer stop under the train shed having been removed along with the run round loop points. Copyright Michael Bussell.
Picture
Clevedon staion from the forecourt. - the long platfrom cannopy is in evidence. The long gas lit platform contnued for some distance towards Yatton. July 1966. Copyright Michael Bussell.
Picture
The robust terminal build was nigh on half a mile from the beach. July 1966.
Picture
June 1968 and demolition is well under way as is evidenced of the picture as we look into the town beyond the buffer stop. As can be seen the metals once went a little further to the run round points into the train shed. Copyright Michael Bussell.
With many thanks to both Martin Tester and Michael Bussell for their considerable additional cover of this very short branch which can be seen using this link to the Clevedon branch - please click here.

It's a bit boring here - time to get mooving I think - lets go home. Blunsden. 5th June 2023. Copyright Ken Mumford.
You are getting more versitile Ken, Crows and foxes, now bovine subjects! Which 'shed' did they belong to?

More at Blunsden
Ken Mumford

As well as photographing COWS ON THE LINE at Blunsden today, I took these OTHER photos of the SWINDON & CRICKLADE RAILWAY site at Blunsden.

[1]  5637 - with boiler removed - see [5]
[2]  5637 - looking from the smokebox end at the space where the boiler goes.
[3]  35006 with some bits exposed and some covered up - boiler is outside.
[4]  Is this the outside of 35006's original footplate side?
[5]  Just in view is 5637's bunker with in the centre its boiler.
[6]  Being 5637's boiler company is the Polish tank belonging to the S & C.

Kind regards, Ken Mumford.
