A question at
Ivybridge
Clive Smith
Picture

It looks like some part of the track infrastructure as it has a small solar panel and a small tube going down to the track.
The above was spotted in Clives picture of the 4th January 2022 - can anybody tell us what this item of equipment does?  Thank you. (Reply below)

Morning Keith,
Hopefully you will be getting my emails again now.  The IT problem was at my end. Apologies about that.
With reference to the website photograph showing a cabinet at Ivybridge.  That is (was) a standard WR signalling equipment cabinet (with its door missing) and the box inside is a 240v to 110v signalling power supply transformer.  Looking at the position of cabinet I think it was the power supply point for the former Ivybridge distant signal.  Those tended to use local public mains power supplies with a battery backup at the signal itself.  hope that answers that question.
Take care,
Chris Bellett Retired S&T Engineer  CRS Member
Many thanks to Chris Bellett for a very prompt reply and answer to our query. It's handy having an expert amongst us. I hope that cabinet is no longer connected to 240VAC!!
