B & W goings and comings at
Walker Lines
Phil Hawke

Keith , the end of a little bit of Cornish Rail history. We have nearly finished the removal of the sidings into Walker Lines at Bodmin.  About fifty years ago a siding was provided under one the "section  8"  grants to allow the agricultural merchants Fulford Trumps to receive granular fertilizer by rail.  The site was later taken over by Fitzgerald Lighting and after the Bodmin and Wenford opened, wagon loads of light fittings were tripped to the main line at Parkway where these were collected by  the Speedlink Freight service.  Additional sidings were also laid for the storage of B & W stock.  Following a recent change of land ownership the B & W no longer has access therefore the connection to Walker Lines and all of the sidings are being removed.  A new turnout, a hundred feet or so in the Parkway direction,  has been provided to allow a carriage storage shed  to be built in the future on  land that is available to the B & W but at present there is no timescale for this project.

Regards,  Phil Hawke

Many thanks Phil - a sad occasion perhaps.

CRS Boat trip
Tony Wright

Tony Wright a former chairman of the CRS and now our most efficient Treasurer sent in this picture from 22 years ago. Unfortunately the majority of the party are facing away from the camera.
I am hoping that Roger Winnen, our outdoor events Secretary  can be seen to the far right checking the party on board can name names. It was a trip which for some reason I did not go on.

Sandrover at Moorswater
and a trip away.
Craig Munday

Hi Keith

A while since we last caught up. Some IT issues at home and a trip away tripped up recent events, but back on track now!

The Devon Sandrover was recently in action at Moorswater for a press day. BBC & ITV came to the now rusty rails at Moorswater to see the vehicle in action. Representatives from Aquarius Rail demonstrated the vehicle on the short run-round track and plenty of footage obtained for the evening news programmes. The BBC's John Henderson, and Grace Pascoe from ITV produced two super segments for our "battle with the leaves on the line".

A trip to Bristol, Toddington & Oxford saw me off the usual Cornish rails and finding some Autumn sunshine. Here is a selection of the action:

Just off the area, a mixed traction weekend on the GWR saw steam locos run with diesels. 55019 looked great running with the railway's stock and is seen at Toddington. The train locos bound for Cheltenham Racecourse are Dinmore Manor and Foremark Hall.

A wander around the lovely Avon Valley with local photographer Glen Batten saw many GWR services in action in strong sunshine on 31st Oct. Units are seen at Freshford & Dundas aqueduct.
Finally on "our" area, 66566 drops down Filton bank at Lockleaze with a boxless liner train bound for Londopn Gateway. This service runs via Box & Swindon affording a lengthy (but more scenic) trip for the crew.

Best wishes, Craig Munday.
