Hi Keith,  A selection of Spring pictures from the recent days.

On the 26th a trek up to the Glynn Valley in sublime light to see 1A85 and 66149 with the sand. Strange to be stalking HSTs in their final days working 2x8 to Paddington, but they are very much vulnerable now.

The clay by rail thankfully recommenced after a few weeks lull on Wednesday. 66127 made it's way to Treviscoe and Carne Point on Wed 27th. The loaded train is seen at Golant - taken from a builder's scaffold - a new, but very temporary viewpoint!

Also on 27th 70816 is seen with the cement tanks running around prior to heading for Moorswater.

Finally, yesterday 28th, 66009 in bright red on the sand, and 66126 (note the loco swap from 127) working the clay. See the driver deftly delivering the token in its hoop carrier onto the catcher opposite the box at St Blazey

      All the best,  Craig
        Many thanks indeed Craig

Friday 29th March 2019 was another sunny forecast so again I headed west to photograph the morning up London HSTs . As I turned off the A38 for St Budeaux to drop down to the Royal Albert Bridge my heart sank at the sight of a bank of fog on the Tamar. As I parked up below the bridge by the old ferry slipway with the first train due I noticed the sun starting to shine through and the first traces of the fog burning off. Close up to the water's edge the eastern end of the bridge started to reveal itself in a very ethereal and atmospheric way. These pictures show the trains that crossed the bridge in the next hour. Part 2 will show just the bridge itself during this wonderful hour.

               Regards, Clive Smith.
Many thanks Clive.

Farewell Old Friend
Clive Smith
Not everybody gets nostalgic over cars but when you've had one for a long time and it hasn't let you down taking you to many railway locations parting from an old friend as you take it for its last run to the scrapyard on its final run is a sad occasion. Yesterday was such an occasion for Clive as he poses his chariot in front of a far older old friend.  We had to have railway somewhere in this picture! 29th March 2019.
