Yelverton Station on the afternoon of 22 September 1962
On Thursday last, 22 September 2022, the website published photos taken on the morning of Saturday 22 September 1962 at Laira Shed. That afternoon I visited Yelverton Station on the branch to Launceston to see a couple of trains pass through, as follows:
5725       4574 runs in on the 3.05pm Plymouth to Launceston train, running three minutes early. I was standing by the buffer stop at the end of a siding.
5726       A general view of Yelverton Station looking north; only the left hand line was in use.
5727       4555 leaves Yelverton Tunnel and passes through the station non-stop with 11 wagons on the afternoon goods from Launceston

Many thanks indeed Mike - if only we could turn the clock back!!

However, just a couple of days ago we were able to publish a picture of 4555 still alive and kicking at Cranmore E.S.R. Great isn't it.

I, KJ wrote to the editor of the Chard Flyer asking permission to publish the above copy from withing the 'Flyer'.  Anthony Bucke wrote back as follows -
Good morning Keith,
Thank you for the message. Yes I am very happy that our article is positioned at the Chard Junction site on your map. Your scan is an article within the Chard flyer, not the cover, so gives more information for any visitors to your website.
You may be interested in Bridport as well? We also produce The Bridport flyer, and over the past few editions have supported initiatives to re-open the West Bay to Maiden Newton line. More information at www.thebridportflyer.co.uk.
Please let me know if you would like to use any of the previous articles?
Best wishes,
Anthony Bucke. Mob 07854 377649.
Having clicked on the above link  and got into their Home Page look along the top and click on the 'Bridport Railway and you will see a well illustrated plan to re-instate the Bridport Branch from Maiden Newton to Bridport.
Also look at page 15 of the guide and you will see 'The station Kitchen' - from this click on their website to see the attractive changes which have been made to West Bay station and the adjoining coach.

Many thanks for your reply. If you want to see what our group is doing, we have a Web page and a Facebook page Brixham Railway Heritage Trail 2023.
It would be great if there are any photos, it doesn't matter that the track may have been lifted.
Thanks for your help
Pauline
Many thanks for your note - members will find your web page most interesting - click here  https://brixhamrailwaytrail.org.uk/
Appeal for information on
Cornish Railways
Alex Fisher
Good afternoon
As part of a bookazine series on the History of BR, I am currently covering the Cornish Railways brand name in use sometime between 1984-86. I just wondered please if the group happened to any further information on Cornish Railways?
Best regards
Alex Fisher
Thanks for your query Alex - we'll see what response we get.
