A Mystery of Two Power Cars
at Long Rock
Roger Salter

These two Power Cars have been a Long Rock for at least 3 days
It was thought that they were 43160 and 43141 that rescued the Night Riviera on Friday, however closer inspection reveal that 43141 from the Sleeper rescue is coupled to 43182. Can anyone throw some light on this subject and what is the reason for a pair of power cars at Long Rock!  Perhaps awaiting another sleeper failure!

Today at Truthall
Mark Lynam

Yesterday and today saw the return of steam at the Helston Railway as part of their 1940s Weekend. Peckett 0-4-0ST "Kilmersdon" seen at Truthall Halt this afternoon in the sunshine.

Caroline to Cornwall
Karl Hewlett
I have been watching this for nearly a fortnight but have been holding back because there have been a few test trains and non-passenger workings on RTT that have been booked and with six different paths, cancelled or changed at the last minute, but this one is running!  A DRS operated managers inspection run covering the South and South West area this week with inspection coach 'Caroline' 975025 http://www.departmentals.com/photo/975025-5 and 37405.  The class 37 is on the London end of the formation:

50149 Burngullow-01 The modified class 50 appears around the bend off the Parkandillack branch. The low level winter lighting makes this an excellent shot. Note how clear the old station building at Burngullow looks without vegetation. 11th January 1988 Copyright Julian Stephens

50149 Burngullow-03 Taken from the same bridge but looking east a most interesting scene. The main line west has been foolishly singled. Activity on the trackbed of the former down main is clearly visible - something has been dragged along. Also note that the Storage sheds at Burngullow are in us. 11th January 1988 Copyright Julian Stephens

Axminster 1988

John takes a look at Axminster in 1988 and notes how run down the area looks now compared with the present much improved station.  Many thanks John.
