In memory of Charles Fennamore
Cardiff

Picture
Here we see 92003 and 4109 (ex-works) heading west through Cardiff General in September 1962. Since 4109 was shedded at Gloucester it could be travelling from Caerphilly Works to Canton Shed before heading for its home shed later. Caerphilly works closed the following year. This photo is dedicated to the memory of Charles Fennamore who passed away recently. Charles and I did many rail trips through Cardiff General together when we both lived in South Wales during 1960 - 61.

                                        Regards, Mike

Remembering the Fallen from the First World War

This weekend and next see Buses replace trains from St Austell to Plymouth and Par to Liskeard. I had hoped that the replacement bus would use the Glyn Valley to Liskeard to observe any work going on at Clinnick Viaduct however we ran via Lostwithiel and the three Taphouses. IETs were much in evidence at Plymouth today, a sign of the times to come. An IET 800306 named Harold Day & Allan Lenard Lewis arrived from Paddington suitably adhorned commemorating the 2500 Great Western Railway war victims of the Great War 1914-1918.

The signage at 'The Dell' garage has increased somewhat as a pair of 153's cross the bridge to the east of Falmouth Town (The Dell) with 153329/153370 departing Falmouth Town with 2F77 12.20 Truro to Falmouth Docks service. 16th March 2018 Copyright Shane Webster
