Not so straight as an arrow!
Bow Derailment
Graham Mann

Keith

Looking at your great website and I noticed the today’s (24th April 2021) relaying pictures at Bow, these are a great interest for me as the Meldon line (DAC) was a part of the area of my first Section Managers post in BR days.
Six weeks after commencing my new post I was confronted with this derailment which is in the same location.

Such a stark contrast 36 years later!

Many thanks Graham for this extremely rare and unique picture of an accident - the rails look rather 'bowed'!

Mister blue skies
Craig Munday
Can anyone remember rain falling? An exceptional period of clear weather across the Duchy. Cobalt blue skies with no aircraft trace to be seen. Is the world recovering during Lockdown?

I'm sure the long term June / July forecast will come to fruition with the jet stream looming over us through the longest days!

The freight has been dominated by bright red class 66s lately, and they make a superb picture in the sunshine. Some days off have allowed some freights to be followed, what shame the variety of the Colas class 70 cant be enjoyed anymore on the cement from Moorswater.

Best wishes

Craig

The Thursday CDAs were tipped but the empty wagons left until Friday to return to St Blazey. They fortuitously ran in the old 13.50 from Carne Point which was always a favourite to photograph. The occupation bridge at Little Treverran is the location for 66150 sweeping around the lovely curve in beautiful light, following hot on the heels of the down London to Penzance. 23rd April 2021. Many thanks Craig  for your detailed report, unending blue skies and Red locos.
