Class 67's for sale

News has emerged over the past week that DB Cargo have offered for sale 10 of their Class 67 locomotives.  These locomotives were once an everyday sight in Cornwall, working Royal Mail trains in and out of the County for EWS, having been purchased as a replacement for the aging fleet of Class 47/7's.

Sadly, not long after their delivery, Royal Mail made the decision to move much of their operations away from rail, focusing instead on road and air transport.

With a high route availability (RA8) largely due to their bo-bo axle configuration and relatively low ETS capabilities, operators have struggled to find alternative work on the network and many of the class have spent large periods of their lives in storage.

If you fancy one (!), the DB Cargo disposal list can be viewed by clicking here.
